old journal entries gone

After this latest android app update my journal entries are gone. I have only one account, I sync regularly, did not actively delete them, and nothing is in my notes trash folder. Any ideas how to retrieve them?

In the old version of Gospel Library, "Journal" was a separate section of Notes that was kind of like a combination of a notebook and an "all notes" area. A lot of users were confused by the feature and how it worked (mainly the fact that creating notes in other notebooks also showed up in the Journal). The Journal section of Notes has been removed. However, all of your notes are still there.

There is a quick way to "restore" your journal – it creates a new notebook called Journal and moves applicable notes from Notes > Recent into the new notebook:
1) Open the Notes area of the app.
2) Tap the overflow (three dots) menu, and choose "Restore Journal."
This will create a regular notebook called "Journal" and migrate your notes (all those that aren't associated with a notebook or a highlight) into it.

Sorry To resurrect this, but I just did this and all of the entries have the timestamps of today's date! What a nightmare for my memories! It is nice that I can restore them, but I relied on the timestamps stored in the application. Anyone have any ideas? Should I trust using the LDS app going forward?

Only the date modified for each note is updated when it's moved between notebooks; the original date created is still there (hopefully that's some consolation). Unfortunately, the date created isn't visible anywhere in the app. I would recommend sending in-app feedback requesting that the date created be visible and used for sorting instead of the date modified, or as an option in addition to date modified. The date modified changes anytime you resize a highlight, fix a typo, add a tag, etc., so in my opinion it's not as useful for historical purposes.
