I just wanted to post a brief announcement that The Scriptures for the iPhone is now available free of charge from the app store:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSt ... 70390&mt=8

You can read more about it here: http://leefalin.com/projects/scriptures/

It currently contains all of the standard works and the ability to search for a word or phrase across all of the scriptures.

It doesn't yet contain Footnotes or Study Helps (Topical Guide, Bible Dictionary, etc...), the ability to mark scriptures, or languages other than English.

I've gotten a lot of requests for these items and I plan to add the ability to mark and annotate in the next release.

As for the footnotes and study helps, (as well as the current Priesthood/Relief Society curriculum, which is another common request). Those items are all under copyright by the church and so I can't legally include them in an application for distribution without permission. I've sent an email to the Intellectual Reserve general email address about this, but haven't yet heard back. If anyone knows someone specific I could talk to about permission then that would be appreciated.

Lee,
Thank you for making this available for the Ipod Touch. I took my new Ipod Touch to Church today dnd was amazed how fast I was able to get to the scriptures, sometimes quicker than the speaker. :-)
I look forward to your updates.
Awesome job.

Since your app is free, how do you feel about sending out source code to people?
