I see alot of posts relating to mapping locations of members, and other matters like the mashup that one sees in new FamilySearch, among other things.

Almost all of the solutions appear to use Google Maps. I've found a project that has been around for at least a couple of years that might be of use to those looking at mapping solutions for Church use.

They also run a wiki that may be of interest to some as well.

This was found while looking for something else while working on things related to FamilySearch Wiki, posted this there also because they were looking to find out why articles larger than 32k were causing error messages.

OpenStreetMap is a cool concept. I like the service and have been using it for a while. Adding on top of the already decent feature-set, I hope they become a worthy competitor to large and proprietary online map services.

Have been considering buying a GPS tracker and contributing to it, but sending in my mission papers soon so it will probably have to wait -- don’t suppose something like that would go meanwhile.

Good luck Carsten, best decision you can make.
