I have a new family in the ward that has a new missionary in the field. The family is concerned that they cannot see their sons name in the drop down box when making a payment to the ward mission fund under his name. The missionaries records are located in our ward. Does it take a few months for this to update? If so I will inform the family to donate to the general ward mission fund until it appears.

Has his name appeared as a sub-category to Ward Missionary?

One issue people frequently stumble on is that missionary financial responsibility does NOT move with the membership records. Since they are a new family, I'm guessing the missionary paperwork was processed by the prior ward - and so his name is appearing in the prior ward's system - not your ward.

If that's the case, a clerk or bishop will need to call CHQ to get responsibility transferred. You wan work out an effective date of transfer so that the donations match the payments to SLC.

His name does appear in the ward directory under the serving missionaries tab.

That has nothing to do with financial responsibility. That's what you need to resolve.

That is different from the financial responsibility. Contact the Global Service Center and ask them to transfer the funding responsibility for that missionary to your ward.

Again, missionary financial responsibility is independent of membership records.

I called the mission office and they made the change.
