Missionary list in ward missionary donations

How long does a missionary remain in the select a missionary window for donating mission funds? Our ward lists missionaries that have returned home a couple of years ago. I also looked at the ward my niece/nephew are from and it still lists them as options in the missionary fund window. Both have finished serving and are home. Does the option to donate stay open as long as funds are needed or until the ward removes them or something else? (These missionaries no longer show on the ward directory as serving missionaries and they were released and are now living in different wards.)

It make take a bit of time for them to be removed, but I'm sure they'll remain as long as the balance for the missionary is not zero.

Once a missionary returns, the ward clerk should adjust the account to zero. If he does, the selection should go away within about two months.

Thank you; it is interesting for me to see names of missionaries that have returned from service and are no longer in our ward and are now married and starting families of their own.

A new family moved into our ward and their son who is currently serving a full time mission does not show up on the drop-down list even though we have moved his records in. How do I add him to the list so he'll show as an available option on the drop-down?

Moving membership records does not automatically transfer responsibility for missionary payments, so until you take action, payments will continue to be deducted from the ward that is currently responsible for his missionary payments (most likely the ward where they used to live).

To transfer financial responsibility you need to call the Global Service Center. But before you do that, you need to coordinate with the family and with the other ward so that you are sure of the timing. The payment for May was most likely already deducted last week. Was the corresponding donation made by the family in that ward or in your ward? When you transfer responsibility, you can specify when responsibility changes, and that can be retroactive. So be sure you know just where payments have been made charges have been deducted so you can specify the correct transfer date.

Our ward just went through a reorganization and we received a family that has a missionary currently serving. Their old ward and stake was dissolved. Their missionary doesn't show up in the online donations list under the ward mission fund. How should get him added?
