Obviously this isn't a solution for what we're talking about here (you wouldn't know who is doing the translation if you used this future service, as far as I can tell). But it is certainly an example of how an online facility could make it much easier to get translations done.
I really like the screenshot in the article showing how Google presents the material, and the idea that it draws on the collected knowledge of many previous translations. Access to a tool like that would make translation of Church materials much easier for those of us who aren't in the Church's translation department, but still end up doing translation of LDS materials.
