Donation slips

One of the members in our bishopric was wondering why the church has not updated the donation slips with a spot for the member to write in their check number? Is this in the works ? It seems like a very easy change. we currently just write it in so that the clerk can input it into the computer. and it is then verifiable if there is a discrepancy.
