The distribution center does offer #9 and #8 windowed envelopes. It is through the Staples Eway store.

That's a nice option, but only for blank envelopes. The official envelopes for the ward or stake, which include the name of the ward or stake and the bishop or stake president's name and address, are available only in #10 size.

We have the same problem with checks not fitting in the envelope and sliding up in handling. Enough so that we came up with the solution of using the paper cutter in the library, we cut some strips about 3 inches wide and the exact height of the envelope. You put this strip in the fold of the check and it keeps the check at the bottom of the envelope.

I think if you cut a sheet of letter size paper in thirds, and then make about 3 strips from each, you get about 9 fillers from each sheet of paper. You can make a bunch in a short period of time. Haven't had a check returned since we started doing that.

That's a great idea -- simple, but effective!
