Is there any planning on moving MLS into the cloud or making it accessible via the web? We find it difficult to have so many users need the computer all at the same time for reporting etc. . One has to make a special trip during the week (leaving family etc. .) just to organize hometeaching or put in the report. I think having access to the MLS system for my ward from my home would allow me to be more effective in managing my HP group. Our elders quorum has even purchased a subscription to a service to report hometeaching online. I think the church ought to be able to provide something similar considering they have all the data. Just a suggestion. Thanks.

There was an LDS Church News article post about this yesterday. The short answer is it is already happening. It will continue over the next few years until it is fully migrated and MLS is retired.

Not all the data found on the local MLS is recorded at church headquarters. Home teaching and visiting teaching assignments only reside on the ward MLS. That is one important limitation to having HT/VT online. You'll note that for the third party applications found online that the users must populate the base data and manually keep that data updated on these applications since there is no automated connectivity to unit records.
