I have no objection whatsoever over a sister serving as an STS. Just wondering if policies have changed regarding the STS being a clerk calling, or if the article is in error....how much does he or she need to know about satellite technology?

Is it still a requirement that the Stake Technology Specialist be designated an Assistant Stake Clerk? I just received the April 2011 Meetinghouse Technology Newsletter and in the Satellite Basics and Troubleshooting article, first paragraph, in discussing the responsibility of the STS, the questions is posed,

There has been no change in policy. Handbook 1, Section 13.3.3, still clearly states that the STS is an Assistant Stake Clerk. I'll take the handbook over an odd choice of words in a newsletter any day. My guess is that it's just a bit of sloppy editing. Perhaps someone originally wrote "... how much do they need to know" and some editor just automatically changed "they" to "he or she".
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.
I tried using the feedback link included at the bottom of the newsletter to report the error to firstname.lastname@example.org. The email bounced as undeliverable with the following message:
