Looking for FHC Tech Forum

#1

Post by KathrynGZ »

A few years ago I saw a forum specifically for FHC tech staff (I don't think it was part of tech.lds.org). I didn't need it at the time, but now I do :) Can anyone direct me to the right URL?

Thanks!

Excellent list with some very knowledgeable and experienced folks on it. You may even recognize a few of the names. [grin]

The most active user group for FHC workers is the FHCNET yahoo users group. You might take a look at that.

There are actually 3 active groups that I'm aware of. FHCNET is primarily aimed at the FHC Directors. But they frequently talk computers there. FHCTECH and LDSFHCTECH are for the computer geeks who talk about deeper computer issues. All of them are on yahoo groups and can be found by making appropriate modifications to the URLs listed in post #2. As far as I know, FHCTECH is the only one with a web page.

Edit: I should add that LDSFHCTECH is at least semi-official since it's run by a member of the Church's FH support staff. The other two are strictly user-to-user unofficial support.

Thanks, all! Exactly what I needed. I'm already on FHCNET and yes, it's a great group--but doesn't have quite the technical focus that I need, since I was recently asked to handle technical issues for our FHC. I'll check out the other groups.

Thanks again--

We have now opened a technical support forum for family history centers at http://forums.familysearchsupport.org/index.php

Family History Center Support agents will be monitoring these forums to insure threads receive replies.

Anyone know what happened to this page? I'm getting a "Server not found" error...

It appears that this page has moved to http://forums.familysearch.org/ (which is where you get redirected to if you leave off the index.php part of the URL and just go to http://forums.familysearchsupport.org).

Yes, we have updated our url since. We had a redirect in place, but i'm not sure what happened. This is the direct link to the FHC forums: http://forums.familysearch.org/en/forumdisplay.php?f=50
