Scrolling Images - Issue report

#1

Post by wiscombe.peter »

I'm using the Indexing application on a Macbook Pro running OSX El Capitan

The application runs as expected, except for an issue with scrolling/moving the image. When you move the image up/down/left/right with either the scroll bars or by dragging it with the mouse, it does the image equivalent of a stutter (not sure how else to describe it, but it looks like this:
Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 7.27.24 PM.png
(263.93 KiB) Not downloaded yet
When it should look like this:
Screen Shot 2016-05-31 at 7.27.39 PM.png
(193.43 KiB) Not downloaded yet
Sometimes it is much worse. It can be resolved by increasing/decreasing the zoom which will redraw the image. Sometimes, the image resolves itself after a time - 15-30 seconds later, but not always.

Does anyone know of anything that would alleviate this?

On a Windows machine, I'd suggest making sure you have current video drivers. But a Mac is a different deal.

Indexing uses Java, correct? You might want to get on the most current version that you can still do indexing.

I have the same problem. I've updated Java, uninstalled/reinstalled, even factory reset my Macbook Pro and started over. The issue persists, which makes me think it is an error with the application itself.

Anyone have a work-around?

Indexing requires Java 6 (an older version of Java), which can be downloaded from Apple here:

Did you try that?

Update:

I upgraded to MacOS - Sierra. When I tried to run Indexing, it required me to update my Java version to Java for OSX 2015-001

This has corrected the issue

posted too soon - worked well on a clean image - but still scrambling "noisy" images...

I have this issue too. I can get the scramble to fix itself moving the mouse cursor outside of the indexing window and back in again. Kind of a weird solution. I am running MacOS Sierra with Java 2015-001. It would be nice if this was fixed.
