Ward Missionary Fund

#1

Post by kg0332 »

Prior to the CUBS October 2010 update, individual missionary balances could be viewed. We now can only view current missionary balances and other missionaries that owed money went to the "Ward Missionary Fund". My Bishop is wanting to know how much each missionary owed when he returned, but it is in a lump sum in the "Ward Missionary Fund". I read that the subcategory would be set to hidden for 3 years and then deleted. How can I view how much each individual owed prior to the CUBS update?

Thanks for any help...

The instructions given prior to the CUBS transition told clerks to print out all missionary fund balances. If you followed those instructions, you can simply read the balances from that report.

It's not true that the previous categories are "set to hidden for 3 years" -- they are completely gone. The only way to look at the old balances is to restore a backup from 17 October 2010. But that has to be done with extreme care.

If you have a backup of your data prior to CUBS conversion, you can take another computer, install the pre-CUBS version of MLS, restore the backup and print the report(s).

p.s. you MUST set the date and time on the computer to a pre-CUBS date but after the backup BEFORE doing the restore.

Our computer was down during the CUBS update and didn't get fixed by the stake until all this had gone through and I didn't get a chance to read the instructions of backing up or printing out everything. That's what I was thinking of installing MLS on another computer and restoring to Oct 17th. Can I pull MLS off the MLS computer? That is, is the installation file on the computer somewhere?

Your stake technology specialist may have the old installer. It's also possible an old installer is on your computer somewhere -- they are all named "MLS 3.3.1 Installer.exe" (where you replace 3.3.1 with whatever version it installs).

The installer should NOT be on the computer, but even if it is, it is probably 3.3.0 or 3.3.1 and not 3.2.3, the one you will need to open an Oct 17 2010 backup. Compare the date of your backup to the MLS release date here to determine what version you will need.

CUBS replaced all your local financial information with CHQ's so the only way to recover this information at this point in time is to restore a backup - it is not hidden somewhere on your computer. Pre-CUBS CHQ categorized your finances in only 4 main categories: Budget, Other, Ward Missionary and Fast Offering. Any additional categorization by sub-categories under these major categories was stored locally only and was lost when they overwrote your local financial information with theirs.

You will definitely want to do this on a different computer since otherwise you would be downgrading your MLS version.
