Baptismal record???

#1

Post by Cemaskin1 »

Years ago I was baptized at LDS @ Lake Elsinore, CA... I have no records of the date and names etc. How can I obtain my baptismal certificate/record?
Thanks,

Ask your ward clerk.

The date of your baptism should be recorded on your individual ordinance summary, which your clerk can provide. If your membership record number is attached to your LDS Account, you can also see the information yourself in the LDS Tools app for Android or iOS. As for names – I don't think the names of the people who performed or witnessed the baptism are recorded anywhere digital/permanent after the original certificate is printed.

Who performed it is recorded and visible to the clerk in LCR. It doesn't show on the IOS.

I thought the church stopped recording that on the membership record decades ago, but LCR is now "caching" that within itself (like how MLS did) for newer baptisms.

Or, am I remembering that wrong?

It is stored with the membership record. There was a period where it wasn't being recorded, so there is data that isn't present because it wasn't captured when the ordinance was recorded.

When the ordinance is added now, LCR prompts for the performer. If the performer is added to an existing ordinance, the record is updated.

It has been my experience that the Mission office does not record the names of those who performed the convert baptism or confirmation when they create the record.

Their workflow makes it difficult to record those because they are working through CDE. At some point, I expect that process will change and it will be easier to capture the information when the baptism is recorded.

With LCR, it's pretty difficult for a ward clerk to record a baptism without recording the ordinance performer.
