English speaking ward in Rome, Italy

#1

Post by mmyamazaki »

Hello,

My family and I are moving to Rome in July 2019. We are wondering if there is an English-speaking ward there. I used the meeting house locator website, but all the wards in Rome appear to be Italian-language services.

Thank you

I found three wards in the Rome Italy West Stake that list English as a secondary language. (Caserta Ward, Active Flegreo Ward, Ladispoli Ward). How current and how active the English group is is anyone's guess. As far as I know, ward boundaries are still in effect, so you need to know where you're going to and what ward covers that area. Then you can try contacting that bishop to see what you can expect. Your current clerk can help you get the email address of the bishop of that ward.

There are four wards listed as Rome Wards, Rome 1, 2, 3, and 4. All of them are Italian speaking. However, all of them have English speaking missionaries and some members who speak English. In particular, Rome 2 is the Ward the Mission President and several of the senior couples plus the office Elders attend. They regularly translate into an FM radio system. Those wishing to hear the translated version can put on headphones. Ladispoli also has quite a number of members who speak English well. If I were moving to Rome, I would check on lds.org for the Ward I should attend according to my address and attend that Ward. Finding someone to help you understand the meetings will likely be no problem and they will appreciate your active participation very much.

CDOL shows them as "Roma". (There's 5) None of them are listed as having English as a spoken Language. But I always wonder how up-to-date those details are.

Thank you for your reply. I have a teenage daughter who will be a Jr. in HS and I was hoping there will be a decent size YM/YW group in Rome. But, it doesn not appear to be the case. And of course another question I have is how YM/YW take seminary classes...

I believe your local Seminary and Institute coordinator should be able to answer this question for you.

In some places in Europe (and probably other places), where distances are far, seminary classes are held at the church building once a week on a weeknight. The Church has also been implementing online seminary in some places. Your ward and stake leaders will be able to help after you move.

Can someone confirm the time of the sacrament meetings of ward 2? Sometimes lds tools are not accurate just want to double check since I wasn’t able to get a hold of the bishop. Thanks

mmyamazaki,

I am also moving to Rome during the summer of 2019. We will arrive in August. I have a daughter who is a Beehive and a son who is a Teacher. I would love to talk to you more. I have also had a lot of questions about seminary etc. My husband and I speak a little bit of Italian, but the kids do not. You can reach me at alisonkcampbell at gmail.

I hope to hear from you,
