What about LDS Tools and Library as Win 8 Metro apps?

I know that the primary focus is iOS and mobile but regardless who's publishing the numbers there's no question that at least 50M copies of Win8 are out there, with sales rate likely to exceed most if not all the other platforms. Is there official work in progress?

Please don't point to the fact that they're available via browser. I'm well aware, but that simply doesn't meet the need as internet is frequently not available in the meeting houses in my stake. And most will admit the browser experience when using the library is sub par compared with the app versions.

On LST Tech I have seen independent efforts on the apps but what I'm querying is if there's an official effort under way, and if so when we should expect to see something, if not, why not?

FYI in my household I have 2 iPads, 3 Windows phones, Multiple Win8 desktops/Laptops, and Microsoft Surface Pro and RT. I significantly prefer the Surface pro to iPad so that's the tablet I carry but I'm frequently thwarted by the lack of LDS Core Apps in Win 8 Metro.

Software for Gospel Library and LDS Tools for mobile applications is developed by volunteers, with support from Church Headquarters. While it may appear that the primary focus is iOS, it really is only that way because iOS developers started first on that platform. Android is catching up nicely.

At this Forum, we have no insight into the decisions being made at Church Headquarters with regard to the development of apps for Win 8 and its associated flavors (or any others, for that matter). The Church is measured and careful in its considerations, which will always be based on Church priorities which they do not share with us. And they do not ask for our input.

That said, I am confident that the Church is well aware of the potential and availability of Win 8 and other operating systems. There are many who are interested is seeing apps (especially these two) developed for any device being used.

But all we are able to do here at the Forum is to watch and wait. The Church will move at its own pace and for its own reasons. And I have yet to see either a schedule or a reason for the decisions they make.

Similar name, different OS.
