Interview Scheduling Online Software

Postby StevenLeuck-p40 » Fri May 16, 2008 9:01 am

I've just been called to be Ward Exec. Secretary (2nd time). I'm not a programmer but in my construction mgmt position I am accustomed to using a LOT of softare and web based tools. In this 2nd shot at WES I'd like to be able to set up some sort of web based scheduling program to keep the Bishop and his counselors clued into what's going on.

Ideally, I'm looking for something that is simple. Something along the line of Outlook's calendar feature that I can set up for all 3. I was thinking it could be accessible to the bishopric and me so that any of us could view/update it at will.

I have web server space where in a sub-web I can create a password protected space to land this on. I just don't know of any tools that would work well for this. I was hoping someone out there had some good shareware or minimal cost software that they've used or knew of that would work for this.

Your help appreciated. Thanks.

You could try Google Calendar. It allows you to share calendars and layer calendars over each other so that you can see open spots and overlaps. You can make them public or very private. Best part is that it's free.

I second google calendar. You can also import the ward calendar from the ward website to it if you want. There are open source calendaring web apps out there, but nothing matches google's.

I've been accustomed to using our ward's on-line Local Unit Web Site (LUWS), especially its Building Use Calendar. This Resource was set up by Stake Admin for use by two wards within our same Church Building. Now, I've discovered that as a web admin, myself, I can set up a Resource Calendar for just about any organization who whats one, including WES. If you have registered as a LUWS user, have a User Name with Password, then you can request a secure Resource Calendar for you and your Bishop by using "Feedback" option, located within upper right corner of most LUWS pages.
Sigh...On second thought, maybe I'm overstating this calendar's privacy. Any registered ward member probably could access it, too, unless there's some Stake Level configuration to limit access. I've read, within this Forum, of wards scheduling Clerks' Office PC, using just such a Resource Calendar.
Would be nice to have multiple private Events Calendars within LUWS which would allow access only to those already assigned to on-line listed Leadership positions,
e. g. Bishopric and WES, only.

Unless there's something I've missed, I don't think there is any privacy at all.
