All atricles appears on the First page - featured or not

I can select a new article to be featured but the old articles all shows up as well. What is the point of a featured article if everything will show up at the newsletter home page? is there a way to control what appears in the newsletter home page?

According to the
help file, "featured" just puts it at the top of the category and does not affect the home page.
Otherwise, the category lists things according to when they were created - which isn't necessarily the order of importance.
