URL

Postby grandma.reese53 » Sat Oct 11, 2014 2:06 pm

I don't understand what the URL is and how it works. Can someone help me as I am trying to start using this for our RS Presidency. We didn't know they had this and I am finding this could be a real asset for our teachers as well as handing it our each month for our Sisters to have. I could really use the help. Thank you Sister Cindy Reese

As you are editing a lesson, you have the option to specify the "Lesson URL". That allows you to include a link to the lesson content. It's often used for Teachings For Our Times. A URL is the web address for an article, typically in the General Conference section of LDS.org. Almost always, you would copy the URL from your browser's address bar, or from another link, and then paste it into the Lesson URL for the lesson.

Here's an example of what you might do:
  1. Go to the Lesson Schedules application on LDS.org.
  2. Find the lesson you want to specify a URL for, and edit it.
  3. In another browser tab, go to LDS.org, then Teachings, then General Conference.
  4. Under All Conferences, choose 2014, then April.
  5. Suppose that you want to choose Elder Andersen's talk from the Saturday Morning session called Spiritual Whirlwinds.
  6. Right click over the Spiritual Whirlwinds blue link, and choose "Copy Link Address" (or "Copy Link Location", depending on your browser). This will put the URL for that talk into your clipboard.
  7. Switch back to the browser tab where you still have Lesson Schedules open.
  8. Click in the Lesson URL field, and then press Ctrl+V to paste the URL into that field.
  9. Save the lesson.
  10. Now when you (or anyone else) click on the title for that lesson, it will take you directly to that conference talk.
