Year Boundary: I don't like it

The year boundary for setting up lessons is fine for many regular-curriculum classes; however, if I'm setting up a special class that wraps into the next year, it gets in the way. There are many examples where this may occur: Family History, Family Relations, Teaching the Gospel, Gospel Principles, etc.

Is there a reason when we set up a class that we can't let it schedule into the next year? I'm currently running into this in multiple situations.

One situation is Gospel Principles. We aren't necessarily on a year boundary with this class (i.e., we don't start on lesson 1 on the first Sunday). This means I have to manually set up every session of this class. We've had some discussions about how to do more rapid class entry that would help this. Right now it's a bit of a pain to have to navigate to each Sunday and change the class for a given day.
