It would be wonderful if the lesson schedules application supported sending reminders to those who are assigned to teach the lesson. Ideally you should be able to choose how far in advance you should get that reminder, and also if you'd like to receive any additional reminders before you actually teach (if, for example, you choose to be reminded 1 or 2 weeks in advance, but then would like another reminder when it's closer to your actual date for teaching.)

What about students subscribing to lesson reminders, too?

It would also be nice to have a Lessons calendar that shows up for you on your LDS.org calendar for the lessons you are subscribed to. Or at least an iCal or webcal link that you can subscribe to and view lesson schedule on an Outlook, iCal, Google calendar...

Nice ideas. I've added it to our list of items to consider for a future version of Lesson Schedules.

We will most likely not know about these features until they show up one day. Past history has been that development plans are seldom discussed or released to the community.

A lot has happened since the thread was started. LisaAn, who made the post about getting the ideas on the consideration list for future updates is no longer working as an employee at ICS. Church wide funding reductions to support the increased number of missionaries has caused some ICS shakeup. Part of that was the loss of the entire technical publications team in January. We have also noticed some changes is the development efforts away from the LDS.org Tools applications. Perhaps the development priorities have changed.

I also would like to see some type of E-mail or SMS reminder.

First probably for the teachers to get reminded and so many days a head.
With that would be the ability to send a copy of the reminder e-mail to somebody else (like a member in the presidency).

The second part or phase 2 would be to add the lesson schedule to the ward calendar in some degree, but only e-mail certain groups (Elders, Sunday School). I guess member would be able to control which e-mails they want to receive.

There is a lot of work to do for both lesson schedules and the newsletter app that the teams have known about and are obviously glaringly absent, we're just waiting.
