Stake directory

#1

Post by jeffkhansen »

Does anyone know of a really good way to "publish" electronically the stake directory? This would include not only the current LDS tools stake directory of all members and callings but also all of the wards individual meeting times like BYC, presidency meetings, etc. It would also include high council ward speaking dates and what they are over, temple assignments, a matrix of stake presidency ppi dates, the stake theme and president's inspirational message for the year, etc.

Welcome to the Forum! Are you hoping to find an "online" equivalent of the old paper directories? Or looking to replace the "classic" stake and ward websites? We have much of what you wish for in the tools on LDS.org.

The beta Newsletter will help you do much of this "electronic publishing," when it goes live, and it compliments the Directory and Calendar, which would cover much of your other needs, which are already in full use. The challenge now is to educate your leaders to put the information there, keep it current so it is useful, and educate your membership to look for it in the proper places.

Your current LDS.org directory would be your electronic directory, or course, also available in smartphone apps. Why duplicate that? The calendar would hold some of your other data, like "a matrix of stake presidency ppi dates," by making public and private stake calendars. The newsletter could hold the rest of what you need. Documents can be created, uploaded or linked to if held on google Docs or somewhere else. You will place them as "articles" in the stake's section of the newsletter app, under either custom categories or the standard ones offered, and probably make them "sticky" by selecting them as "featured." This will be perfect for lists of all kinds, from complicated meeting rotation schedules, to temple assignments and HC speaking dates and topics.

These forums will help you if you have further questions.

Does that help?

We started using the newsletter with great success. Our assistant tech specalist created a document using Word, even utilizing a table of contents, that will link you to the page you are looking for that contains High Council speaking assignments, assisted living center assignments, temple assignment, PPI schedules, etc. they then attached the document to an article on the stake newsletter that anyone can see. Works great!
