Attachments not available in Internet Explorer

#1

Post by semicolon »

I created a test newsletter while in Firefox with a PDF attachment. I then opened the same newsletter in Internet Explorer using a different log in. The newsletter is there, but the attachment link will not expand to provide access to attachment. Firefox works fine.

I saw that image uploading was limited in IE but not the opening of attachments in an existing newsletter

Using
Firefox 11.0
and
IE 9.0.8112.16421
Update version 9.0.5

The problem with IE expanding the attachment bar is caused by a JavaScript error:

Code: Select all

Message: 'console' is undefined
Line: 27
Char: 4
Code: 0
URI: https://beta.lds.org/member-news/resources/script/member-news.js
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.

I was about to report the very same problem -- the expand feature for seeing the attachments doesn't work for IE 8, but it does in Firefox 7. I tested that as an Admin, Publisher and general user.

This is listed in the "Known Limitations" page: http://tech.lds.org/wiki/Known_limitati ... Newsletter
When uploading images, you must use Chrome or Firefox (rather than Internet Explorer).

Actually, it's not listed there. That simply says that uploads are not supported with IE. But this thread is discussing downloads, which are inaccessible in IE for a totally different reason.
