LDS Tools no longer works with iPhone 3G--Moderator?

Apparently, anyone with an iPhone 3G (whose ios only goes up to 4.2.1) can no longer use LDS tools which now requires an ios 5 or higher to function. Why isn't there an old version that the church can release to those of us who cannot afford to upgrade our phones right now but still need the functionality of LDSTools? I used to use iStake--which the church has put the squeeze on to leave MLS alone--but now no 3rd party apps are available to pick up where LDSTools leaves off. We need the old version put back on the app store (perhaps labelled LDSTools 3G, or something) so that the rest of us can get it back.

When you say "this question has come up before" are you referring to the topic LDS Tools now requires iOS 4.3. my iphone is limited to 4.2.1?

If you review that topic, you'll see that there have been replies -- and the last post in that topic was made by a moderator.

Rest assured that there are moderators active in every section of this forum. But that doesn't mean that the moderators know all the answers -- we're just volunteers who answer the questions that we know the answers for. Some posts may not get an answer. But at least for the issue you mentioned, there has been a reply.

I should have paid closer attention. Do the moderators pass any of this along to the programming team? I'm not sure this qualifies as a bug. It seems more of a conscious decision to no longer support 3G users. Seems like an odd move for the church which is always so mindful of members' needs.

As a normal practice, the Moderators encourage users to send reports through the normal feedback channels, in this case the email address that goes to the volunteer programming team.

It happens in this particular case that I sent along a report some time ago, but I did this because I am a 2G user, not because I am one of the moderators. It is reported.

I never received a response, and I do feel left behind. My charitable feeling is that they did not decide to abandon us, but that they did not consider the ramifications of an upgrade until it was too late to turn back.

I have intentionally refrained from updating the program because I know that if I do I will lose the use of LDS Tools as long as I keep my iPod Touch. And I use it a lot in my calling.

I understand there is a way, if you have an old ipa file, to get the older version of the program back onto your iOS device, but I do not know how to do it. And it may be this only works for iPod Touches and not iPhones.

One of these days I will slip up, get caught trying to download the newer version, and be left in the wilderness until I upgrade.
