Missing Members

Postby jasonlesliewright » Tue Dec 13, 2011 7:04 pm

I know that there is another thread with this same topic but the problem I'm having is not the same. I am the ward financial clerk in our ward and have LDS tools on my phone and tablet. When I look myself up, I'm in there and I'm also listed under callings in the bishopric. My grandmother is in the same ward and we installed LDS tools on her tablet. I looked and I'm not listed as a member. When I go into Bishopric, there is no financial clerk. At quick glance it appears that most members are there but I am not for some reason. I am not in 2 wards and this is my only calling. My wife also doesn't appear on her tablet but she appears on mine just fine.

What you can see depends on your calling, the age of the member in question, what country you are in, and if you've opted in or out.

A bishopric calling generally sees as much as can be seen.

Members under the age of 18 are generally only visible to certain callings.

In some countries (such as Europe) you must "opt in" to be visible to others. In the U.S. it's "opt out".

Does any of this explain what you're seeing? If not, then perhaps the rules aren't working as they should.

Everything you say is explained by the possibility that your profile is hidden. To check that, go to the Directory on lds.org (Tools > Directory, or directly to lds.org/directory). Click on "My Household" in the left menu, then click Edit Profile. I'm guessing the box at the top (labeled "Allow authenticated members of my stake [district] to see my household information...") will be unchecked.

You can see your wife, even though she is in an "opt-out" household, because she is in your household (and because you are a clerk and so you can see members who have opted out). Your grandmother (and all other non-leader non-clerk members of the stake) can't see you or your wife (or other "opt-out" households) because she is a regular member.

So if this theory is correct, you just have to check that box in your profile, and you will be visible to regular members in your stake.
Questions that can benefit the larger community should be asked in a public forum, not a private message.
