First of all, I have to say that I am doing everything I can to embrace the technology that we have available to us. I encourage my Stake Presidency to use the tools and teach the wards to use them as well.

Along those lines in our Stake Priesthood leadership meeting in Stake Conference we were going to show the leaders our key indicators and quarterly reports. I the past I had my own spreadsheet that I listed all of this on but I've gotten lazy with the inclusion of this on the web. I had the web site up prior to our meeting (7am) and it worked fine. I let my login timeout during the meeting and had to refresh when we were displaying the key indicators and the web site hung. I first got proxy errors and then the out of servie page saying the web site was down for maintenance.

I understand that things happen and I suspect that the load on the servers on a Sunday morning was probably part of the problem. I would hope that the church continue to work on the stability of these web sites so we can use them when we need them. I appreciate all that has been done as it has definitely made my calling easier over the years. I really want to be able to fully depend on these tools in the future.

In the future, you may want to screen shot the site and use Power Point. At least for a backup. Even with the best of efforts, Murphy's Law will still be with us. Even in the best of times, you may find the site slow enough to slow the pace of your presentation. That's why I like to use PP. It's there, it's fast. And if you're good in your scripting, no one will know it's not live.

Another issue you could run into is if your conference is part of a Webcase, the STS may pull the plug on the wireless network to insure there's enough bandwidth for the webcast.
