Ward Council Access to Missionary Progress Record and they are on the report

#1

Post by manielsen2002 »

We have a situation with a Ward Council in our Stake where one of the members of the ward council is a recently activated member, this gives them access to the Missionary Progress Record and they are on the list along with their attendance, and other important information regarding their reactivation in LDS Tools, the Bishop of the ward is concerned that this might be a problem is it was discovered. It would be nice if that portion of the Missionary Progress Record could be hidden or archived in a way to make it invisible for certain individuals, or at least an individual can't see themselves on such a report.

We have a very active Stake, but I would think that this would be an even larger problem in other less active areas of the Church. Anyone have a solution to deal with this sensitive issue?

Thank you for the feedback. We will pass it along to the correct people for consideration in the Missionary Department.

It seems like hiding an individual only from themselves could potentially hurt him more if he were to discover it, than allowing them to see themselves on the report. Instead of hiding something, it'd be better to remove it from the report entirely.

That said, it could be a learning experience as you move forward – if you feel something should be hidden, maybe it shouldn't have been written in the first place. Don't include details that could hurt someone's feelings if they were to read it – keep the report simple, and as you're recording information, keep in mind that the person is a brother, not a project. If done right, reading the record of how your fellow ward council members helped you in your spiritual progress should be a joyful experience.
