As a small branch we have had to combine the EQ and HPG during the priesthood classes. Because of the distance and the lack of enough brothers living close by we had to merge the home teaching assignments too. We have added the mixed priesthood companionships to the EQ district. However, this prevents the HPG-leader from editing the assignments list. I can't seem to add him as a district supervisor either. It would be nice to have this added, even though he's a High Priest.
We have to do this too in our small ward. What we do is make sure the HPG is responsible for some companionships and the EQ is responsible for others. You can assign families and companionships across groups. What we did at one time was have all the home teaching in the HPG, but that left the EQ leadership out of the picture so we switched to what we do now.
