auxiliary access with privacy settings

Postby goldensunflakes » Sun Jan 10, 2016 8:13 pm

We have a member in our ward that has selected to have their information visible only to leaders. According the privacy policy, "Access to that element will be limited to Church leaders, including your ward quorum and auxiliary leaders."

As clerk, I can see this member, both through the "my ward" and "leader and clerk resources", which is how it should be.

The R.S. president told me, however, that she cannot see this member, either through "my ward" (which is probably ok) or through "leader and clerk resources", and the latter seems like a problem. This member doesn't show up for the RS on roles or for visiting teaching assignments, etc. Shouldn't the RS president (and presidency) be able to see members through the Leader and Clerk resources page that have requested leader-only privacy, and be able to record visiting teaching etc for them?

That's not what I'd expect. You might want to make sure she's a part of the RS. Maybe make sure that she's 18 or older as well. Also check that she's not a out-of-unit member.

Its not what I'd expect either, which was why I posted the question. The member with the privacy settings has been in the ward for multiple years, is definitely over 18 and part of the Relief Society. She shows up where she is supposed to when I view her as a clerk.

The R.S. President is definitely listed as the RS president, too, so her access privileges should be fine. This is the second time where we know folks with privacy settings set to 'leader-only' are visible only to the clerk and bishopric, not to the auxiliary leaders. The first time it was resolved by the member simply opting to have a less stringent privacy setting.

The relief society president and I will sit down side by side next week, with me logged in on my laptop with my account, and she will login in with her account on the church computer, and make sure we are both trying to access the information in identical ways--but I don't think that is the issue based on our conversation today.

It would be nice if ward clerks had a mechanism of, once logged in, selecting to view information with the access privileges reduced to only a specific auxiliary president or presidency member. Beyond this issue, its hard sometimes to tell different auxiliary leaders exactly what they will see or be able to do because I see things with Clerk privileges, not with their privilege set.

This helps, even if it doesn't go into just was shows and doesn't show on the different reports.

I looked at the member list as it is displayed to you and the member list as it is displayed to your Relief Society president. Both views show the same number of members. Without knowing the specific member in question, I can't dig much further, but everything appears to be working correctly from what I can see.

Make sure the LDS Account the RS is using is connected with her MRN and not someone else's - like her husband's. Although, if that was the case, I wouldn't think she'd be able to get into LCR.
