LCR 3.0: Full-time missionary callings

Postby drepouille » Thu Apr 16, 2015 6:31 am

[Moderator note: I split this discussion from the Leader and Clerk Resources 3.0 release notes topic, since it deals with a specific issue, not the release itself. -- aebrown]

"Callings by Organization now includes information about those serving from the ward as full-time missionaries."

Oh please make this auto-populate the last field in the Officers Sustained report!

I just checked and it doesn't. The feedback link to get that suggestion to the right place is at the bottom right of the page when you're in LCR.

If they are including the full time missionaries that are serving FROM a ward/branch, then it would be just as easy to auto-fill that in the Officers Sustained form.

After all, this information is exported to the ward directory function on lds.org already.

There's another possibility too. When a ward conference is held, each quorum or group has a sustaining of the presidency or group leadership that is serving at the time the ward conference happens, in the quorum or group meeting that day. It would be nice to have a half-sheet prefilled like the general one read at Sacrament meeting, except it would be for that quorum or group. All that would have to be done is print that out that morning, and use it that day, then it can be filed with the annual history.

Would make it convenient for ward history specialists along with those tasked to do that function if none is specifically called. Copies of these could then be sent back, along with the main officers sustained form, with the annual histories.

The officers sustained form includes all of the sustainings that are to be done in individual classes and quorums. It would be more convenient for doing the sustaining in class, but wouldn't need to be added to the history.

I thought that was so, but in the sacrament meeting it only states who is in the leaderships involved at the time--they are not sustained in the sacrament meeting, and that main form should suffice for the annual history, but a sustaining form for in the meetings would indeed be helpful.

What it says is that the following have been or will be sustained. This normally takes place on the same Sunday as the ward conference sacrament meeting.

If you are on the block schedule with sacrament meeting last, you should have sustained them during the first hour and then say they have been sustained. If you have sacrament meeting first, you would say they will be sustained, and then they would be sustained during the third hour. We are talking about the high priests group leadership, the elders quorum presidency, and the youth presidencies of the three Young Women classes, Laurels, MiaMaids, and Beehives.

The way I found that worked best for us is that we made an additional copy of the third page of the sustaining list. That way whoever was in with the Melchizedek priesthood could do those two sustainings, and whoever was in with the Young Women classes could do those sustainings, since both normally occur at the same time, either at the beginning of the first hour of the block of meetings, or at the beginning of the third hour.

Then one copy of the complete list was filed with the history.

And I also found that the best way to get the number of full-time missionaries was to take the bishop or a counselor into the foyer, count the plaques, and ask if the number was correct. Nearly all of them could update the number based on who had just been called or who had just returned.

There are other ways that are just as viable, and it would be nice if the number autopopulated into the list. But we usually were still working on the names themselves, so we hadn't quite gotten that far. [smile]

That all works and will work, thanks. Hadn't thought of some of it but knew the other stuff.
