handbook 1 index - what's it good for (online)?

The online handbook 1 has an index that appears to refer to page numbers for various topics. That's kind of useless when you're using the book online. It's ok if I happen to have a hardcopy of the book. I'm trying to find a section that discusses a certain topic. I found it in the index but have no idea which section to go to to actually find it.
