Allow Orgs to print rolls via lds.org

I suggested to our Sunday school president that they could print their own rolls via lds.org. It turns out that I can print them but their Presidency doesn't have access to print rolls. I know I have their callings right in MLS, but the secretaries and others can't do it.

Any ideas how to fix this?

You can't. Only bishopric members, clerks and the executive secretary have access to that portion of lds.org. We've been told that other leaders will probably have access eventually but we have no timeline. I wouldn't count on it happening soon.

Bummer. Kind of a surprising limitation since we just create MLS accounts for them so they can print their own in the office. They just can't get in there very often with the PC being used for tithing, etc.

Sadly, this has caused our primary to run an entirely manual system for creating their own rolls by hand and maintaining them that way. This manual system then causes the MLS to be very inaccurate for which teachers and kids belong to which class.

In our ward we, the clerks, just print the rolls for everyone and put them in their organization mail box.

We try to push work to the organizations when that work can be easily be done by them. The org secretaries are already handling everything about the rolls except the easiest part, the printing. The church has gone to the effort to program the tool on lds.org -- they just didn't give access to the right people. :)

That's the way I used to do it. I could run the rolls in less time then it took to turn the computer over to someone else.

We prefer to be a full service clerks office. We handle all the administrative stuff we can so as to leave organizations more time to take care of the flock.

The only thing we don't do is input HT and VT assignments. We offered to but the leaders said it was easier for them to make changes straight into the computer than give us the information. We do input the visit report though.

In my opinion, that's why the invented the secretary callings in the organizations.

That's all well and good as long as they have all the tools in order to accomplish the task. How many have keys to the building and clerks office so they can come in at other times than Sunday?

The last thing I want on Sunday is an office full of secretaries trying to update organization information and print class rolls. It much easier for the secretaries to let me know what they need, I'm much more proficient in MLS than them, and lots of requests can be handled when I'm in the clerks office during the week then placed in their box for pickup on Sunday morning.

It's all a matter of priorities. It's been made clear that access will be given to auxiliary leaders at some point. But the Church has limited development resources, and not every good plan can be implemented right away.

So at this point, access has been given to ward and stake leaders and clerks, which I think we would all agree is a higher priority than auxiliary leaders. For the other groups of "the right people" we'll just have to be patient until their access gets implemented.
