Counselors unable to access lds.org Leadership

Postby wrw70 » Wed Dec 19, 2012 8:29 pm

The Bishopric in our ward was changed Dec 2, 2012. lds.org Bishopric shows the new Bishop but not the cousnelors. All were added into MLS at the same time on that date. The Counselors cannot access the Leadership portion of lds,org as they need . Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Note: The above post was split off of from the How long after callings are changed in MLS do they appear in lds.org thread.

The first step is to make sure they've been entered as a standard position in MLS. Custom positions grant no rights whatsoever.

Assuming that is correct, then the next step is to try Correcting duplicate or missing callings. There's been problems with the sync in the past, but it should be fixed now.

While you can add the bishop in to local MLS, that entry is only local and not entered into the system and is not sent to CDOL. Because the bishop calling is a tier 1 position, a LUCR must be submitted by the stake. After the LUCR is approved at headquarters then it is entered into CDOL and sent down to the local MLS. That is probably why the bishop appears in the system.

Check to see if the counselors are listed in CDOL. You may have been caught in the middle of the MLS-CDOL synchronization issue. If the counselors are not there you may have to follow the "Correcting duplicate or missing callings" procedure to get the counselor positions sent through to CDOL. Since it is only two positions that need updating then the steps listed in the last paragraph may be all that are needed.

It looks like you got them into CDOL shortly after your post. Now they have to wait for the process that pulls from CDOL and into the authorization system. See Timing of callings sent to CDOL Church Headquarters for details. It used to be that if you missed the 6 pm cutoff they would have to wait a full day, but I've been told that it pulls the data 4 times a day. If that works then in the morning they should have rights, otherwise one more day should do it.
