Forgive me if this is not the correct forum for this question or if it has been answered before.

I would like to do a presentation on information security for an upcoming stake leadership meeting based on the presentation found in www.lds.org/leader/. The wireless signal is weak in the stake center chapel so I would like to download the presentation to my laptop. Is there a way to do that??

This is a great place to ask the question, and I don't think it's been asked before.

That presentation is a SmartBuilder course that presents the information using a Flash player that loads the content from the server. I can't see any way to download the course.

If you have time work with your FM and get a better signal into the Stake Center Chapel. There will be ongoing reasons for a Stake Center Chapel to view display material like this. I think the Church IT and FM groups need to take into account these types of activities, many media items are being produced by the Church that are only available online and can only be viewed online. Right now when there is a dispute on what constitutes required wireless coverage, or what constitutes reasonable Internet Connectivity the answer is to DOWNLOAD it. Well, we can't always do that.

Is there a nice member willing to consecrate their mobile hot-spot in the Chapel? You could run a couple 100ft Ethernet cables daisy-chained together from wherever you have Ethernet ports?

While you could try to download the flash content using a program like Stream Transport, a much easier
method would be just to use a screen capture tool to grab each of the slides in the course. Of course,
the easiest but least attractive method would be to use a video camera pointed at the computer.

Most chapels (even those with wireless) should have a hard wired Ethernet connection. Since you are the STS and may not be aware of one, check with the FM group and see if they snuck it in while you weren't looking. Or just check inside the pulpit.

Moderator Note: A discussion ensued after this post that dealt with options for networking, which really has little to do with the original discussion of how to do a presentation; that discussion continues in the new thread Networking options.
