Assign the same photo to household AND Member?

Hi,

I'm the new web admin in my singles ward. I'm uploading all of the member photos, yet I've run into a minor issue.

In order for the photos to show up under the "Photos" tab, they have to be assigned to the household. I'd like to be able to assign photos to the members themselves and have those photos appear in the "Photos" directory. If I assign the photo to just the member, the photo does not appear in the directory.

I have to click on "Households," the member, and then the photo appears under "Head of Household," but that's it.

So basically, especially in the case of a singles ward, it would be great if the members' photos could appear in the place of household photos in the "Photos" directory.

Thanks.

A single person is "Head of Household". So just add the photo as the Household photo, once added the default is for the Household photos to show up in the photo directory unless a member opts out. Even though the "Show in ward directory" option in the "Edit Profile" shows for individual photos, it doesn't appear to be implemented yet.

That is correct. When viewing the photos page (what you've called the photos tab) only household photos are displayed.

Since the photos page displays only household photos the workaround for a singles unit is to upload an individual photo in two places, the household and the individual. In fact I've seen cleaver singles (not in a singles unit) upload a 'formal' photo for themselves in the household photo and a 'casual' photo as their individual photo.

The directory is still being developed. If you have suggestions you should use the Submit Feedback link found at the bottom of the directory page.

As jla59 has suggested there is good evidence that the inclusion of photos for individuals is yet to be implemented for the photos page as well as the printed directory

The other problem with choosing to upload only a household photo is that there are various places that only the individual photo is shown. The most prominent is in the leadership directories. If you don't also upload an individual photo (even if it is the same as the household photo), then members serving in callings won't have their pictures displayed in the leadership directory. Another place is in the leader tools on lds.org; as a bishop or clerk is doing various things on those tools, there are places where a photo is displayed, and it's nice for them to be able to see an individual photo there.

It would be great if all these tools could handle the case where there is only one member in a household and if the household photo is missing use the individual photo and vice versa. But in the meantime, the best solution is to upload the same photo twice.
