Why is there a lag in photos moving with members?

For example, today I moved a family into the ward. No photos showed up, so I took all their pictures. Later in the day, I noticed a family photo appeared, but when I clicked on it, it zoomed into a blank image. Then, later tonight when I clicked on the family picture, I received the expected enlarged image.

I'd think there's nothing to move. Wouldn't the member record still point to the same photo?

The photos are tied to the unit for authorization and bulk downloading to LDS Tools. The photo backend system checks periodically for who has moved to update that information that is why there is a lag.

I wish it didn't work that way, but thanks for the explanation.
