LDS Account linked with Facebook (or other social media)

I don't think there are many people who can say, "I have all the contact info for every member of my unit." As a clerk, I'm particularly aware of the daunting task of gathering info from members. It is certainly no easy thing to do.

Thus, I propose this idea and, perhaps, it can be useful. Could it be made possible for members, at their discretion, to link their Facebook account (or whatever social medium) with their LDS one for the sole purpose of collecting their contact info? I feel like this would be ideal, since it would be convenient, quick, and easy to teach others.

I feel as though more people, even from the older generations (no offense meant by that :D), are updating their Facebook accounts more often then they would their LDS account. If the two could be linked, it could save a lot of clerks a lot of time. Plus, the effect would be enormous in regards to using LDS.org's Newsletter feature and all the organizations being able to communicate reliably.

That's my thought. (Do they already offer this ability? If so, where can I learn more?)

No, this does not exist. I cannot say it will or will not ever happen either.

You could make a suggestion using the feedback link on LDS.org. Who knows, it could end up being considered.

The forum is a good place to discuss all the technical issues and the possible implementations.

A lot of people use Facebook frequently, but they don't update their phone numbers or email addresses on their profiles as often as they post or read posts. Contact information is hidden away in a corner of the Facebook profile.

Also, those people who would take the initiative to link their LDS Accounts and Facebook accounts are the ones who are most active and would be more likely to update their LDS Account or at least mark changes on their Individual Ordinance Summary at its yearly review.

Additionally, some people use different contact information for work vs. personal vs. church.
