uploading a picture

I do not show a sidebar on the left so I can upload a picture to the directory.

If you're trying to upload a photo for yourself or your family, click on "My Household" on the left. On the right, just below where the photos would go, you'll see a "add photo" link.
If you're trying to upload a photo for another family, you may not be set up properly in your calling. Only certain standard callings can upload photos for others.
