Senior missionaries with callings in local ward

My husband and I are members of the Rolling Hills Ward in the Rexburg, Idaho East Stake. We are currently serving an 18-month mission in the Canada Halifax Mission (January 2013-July 2014). We are serving in the Moncton Ward of the Saint John New Brunswick Stake. I was recently called as a counselor in the Moncton Ward Relief Society. I am not able to go online with my member ID and password to get ward information, calendars, etc for the Moncton Ward because it only comes up with my Rexburg Ward information. I asked the ward clerk if he could enter me into the Moncton Ward. He entered all of my information into his computer, but I still can't get into the Moncton Ward directory. Can you help me or my ward clerk, Shawn Leger?
Thank You-
Sister Janice R Call & Elder Robert Kevin Call (senior missionary couple)
Moncton, New Brunswick
Canada Halifax Mission

I presume the clerk followed the procedures in Out of unit records. That alone will not give you access to your service ward. Once the out of unit membership record is complete, then you must be entered into a standard leadership position in MLS. Even after the clerk does a send/receive it may take as long as a day for the calling permissions to propagate through the system. It normally only takes a few minutes to gain access to the directory. Your husband's out of unit record must also include priesthood ordinance information. If not, he cannot be added to a leadership position.

When you do have access to your service ward you will need to select the Moncton Ward name in the list of available units in the upper left of the page and just under the word Directory.

What about senior missionaries serving a ward but not having a calling in that ward? Our home ward is Rexburg and we are serving a Stake in Virginia Beach. We are asked to make service callings on members in five different wards in the stake, but we cannot access the directories for these Wards. There should be a way to do this without having to call someone in the Bishopric for an address for every visit we make.

Ask your ward mission leader(s). They can help. :)

Sounds like a low tech solution is in order: As a ward clerk, I have no problem providing the missionaries in our ward with a printed copy of the ward list whenever they request it. Of course, having an "up to the minute" list is not possible with this method, but it will probably be sufficient.

As pointed out, there is a low-tech solution.

For a better solution, you need to take the issue up with your Mission President to pass it up the chain of command. The decisions are all made at the top-level. Most of us here are just users helping other users. We have no power to change things. Especially things that involve a policy decision.

We have a new set of senior missionaries serving in the Stake. They supervise Young Single Adults in all units and need leadership access to the leadership tools on lds.org such as Stake Directory, age group lists - similar to what a high counselor or Stake auxiliary leader might have (I am the Stake Executive Secretary). Do I have to contact the mission home to get this activated? In the past, what has been done was to have another leader in the Stake "share" their credentials but this can cause confusion and it not an ideal solution.

The other option is to create out of unit memberships for them in MLS and then give them callings.

It appears they are serving in the capacity of stake "young single adult advisers".

I made our senior missionaries out of unit records and gave them the calling of "ward missionaries" and they now have access to their home ward and the ward where they serve.

Is it possible for the Bishops wife to access the stake/ward directory while he serves in a student stake? It is hard to participate when you are uninformed.
