Administrator nightmare

Postby 2gerolyn » Fri Nov 04, 2011 9:37 am

Last night, while desperately trying to find a way to access a particular private calendar (with no success)...I realized that when the transition was made from V1 to V2...my access was dropped. The stake administrator and stake building scheduler callings were still listed as "view and edit"; but my name was no longer associated with those callings. I lost 30 calendars. The only calendars saved were the ones where I was listed "by name" not "by calling". Now I am waiting for the MLS to associate me with the Administrator callings. It has only taken me 2 weeks to figure this out...I hope it helps others who are having similar "access" problems.

You "lost" them or "lost access" to them? There may be a considerable difference between having a calendar be deleted, and have it still be there but inaccessible by you until your rights are restored. What is your calling now? Has any calling for you in MLS been changed recently? Are you saying in MLS you should have admin rights but in the calendar it does not list you? For example, if you are a building scheduler, you will need to manually install building schedulers into v2 again, as these will not be pulled from MLS callings if I understand correctly.

I won't know the answer to your first question until my access is restored. I am hoping that I have just "lost access" to them. I agree that there would be a considerable difference between losing the calendars altogether and just losing access. None of my callings in the MLS has changed recently. According to my stake clerk...in an attempt to have me recognized again...he "removed" me as an administrator. That suggests to my mind that I was still an administrator in MLS...but I couldn't function on certain calendars where an administrator or stake bldg specialist was listed as a viewer and editor. My Stake President and his counselors and secretaries could still see the calendars...but I couldn't (stake building specialist/administrator). Perhaps the new version only recognized "default" administrators...Bishops, Stk Presidents and so forth.

Because I am not a default administrator...it made me wonder if standard callings as administrators and building schedulers are having problems accessing calendars in V2 that they were able to access in V1...they may have to be manually installed again.

Default administrators (on a Stake calendar) are:
Stake Assistant Clerk Membership
Stake Building Specialist
Stake Assistant Clerk Technology
Stake Clerk
Stake President
Stake Assistant Clerk Finance
Stake Presidency Second Counselor
Stake Assistant Executive Secretary
Stake Website Administrator
Stake Presidency First Counselor
Stake Assistant Clerk
Acting Stake Leader
Stake Executive Secretary

I was listed by calling (Stake Clerk) but did not lose access to any calendars with the transition.

Currently you don't have any administrator positions in CDOL (the source of positions at CHQ). If the stake clerk adds you back in to MLS he should be able to see that you have an administrator position in CDOL and then you should have your access back.

I am very confused myself. All I know is that I could access all of the calendars to which I was subscribed except the one private calendar I created for my Stake President. Those listed to view and edit were/are: Stake President, Counselors, Secretaries and Stake Building Specialist. I will be sure to follow up. Thank you for your interest and your help.

As I'm not following all the details of your situation...have you and your stake read the new help files here very closely? Releasing your from an MLS calling and then recalling you will not help if it is something that must be designated by a default admin from the "settings" tab within LDS.org calendar. Click on the following links:
Managing Rights and Roles and
Making Reservations
A stake administrator must manually designate each building scheduler.
By virtue of their callings, some administrators are default administrators. Default administrators have the same rights as other administrators, except that default administrators can manage the list of administrators. At the stake level, default administrators can also manage locations and add building schedulers.
I can see this must be very frustrating for you...

My stake clerk said this: "
Tonight (11/3) in MLS, I listed Sister Fugate with the following "Standard" callings:

Stake Building Specialist
Stake Website Administrator
Stake Scheduler for Building 1
Stake Scheduler for Building 2
Stake Scheduler for Building 3

Is this the correct procedure for correcting the problem?

I will read the new help files...I used to be able to do all those things...until the conversion. Thank you for the resources.

At first glance, I'm going to say no. I think your issues must be corrected NOT IN MLS, but through the "Settings / Administrators / Add administrator" process in the calendar, and the "Settings / Locations and Rooms / Edit locations" for your buildings to manually install you as a building scheduler in the calendar. If everything is correct for your callings in these areas, there is more at issue here...

(update: I changed my mind. Calling you to those in MLS SHOULD make you a default admin, giving you back admin rights to the calendars. But, it will NOT add you to the buildings as a building scheduler. That must be done manually as I noted above. If you had those callings before already in MLS, but somehow lost them in V2, I think you've hit on a bug....similar to one I had.)
