Church New Calendar: "Create a New Event" only shows "Other Location" / Loop during "

I am Stake Executive Secretary, and we are settiing up to use the new calendar for the Stake and all Wards in our Stake. We had the "old calendar" already populated for 2011, when the "new calendar" was announced, so I copied all the events from the "old calendar" to the "new". That went pretty well.

However, I am now at the point where I need to assign a resource to some of these events which I just copied.

I went to "Manage Locations and Resources", verified the buildings in the Stake, then added Resources within the Stake Center (Relief Society Room, Cultural Hall, Chapel etc).

1. When I edit a current event, the "Location" only shows "Other Location". How do I get the "Stake Center" to show up on this pulldown menu?

2. I get the same issue with "Location" when I attempt to enter a new event.

3. When I try to "Assign" a "Location", the system appears to go into an eternal loop. Whether I try to assign the Stake Center all day for the entire year to the Stake, or just assign Tuesday evenings from 5-10 pm to the Olympia Ward for their Activity Evening, I get the same result: "Spinning Circle" which never ends ... (I have left it spinning for hours, and it never ends).

I hope there is someone out there who can tell me where I am going wrong.

When you created or verified the location, did you make sure that you said events can be scheduled for that location? Go into Manage Locations and Resources, and for your stake center, click the Edit link. There should be three check boxes at the bottom of the page:
  1. This location is a meetinghouse
  2. This location is approved for use by all Stake and Ward calendars
  3. Allow new events to be scheduled at this location
All three should be checked. In particular, if the third one is not checked, you certainly won't be able to select it as a location for any events.

I don't know if this problem is related to checking the right boxes that I mentioned above. It might be, in which case fixing the first issue will fix the second.

But on occasion, the new calendar does give an eternal spinner. Sometimes logging out and logging back in fixes it, but sometimes it's a server-side problem and you just have to wait until it gets fixed (but you can report the issue using the Feedback link to make sure that the problem is known).
