Scheduling an entire building owned by another stake

#1

Post by Hagothsen »

Our Stake has a single ward, residing in a building "owned" by another Stake. For an upcoming conference, our Stake wants to schedule that building. Does my scheduling of the "entire facility" preclude another unit's scheduling of the building? When a building is shared by two Stakes, do the reservations made by one Stake, preclude the other Stake from double booking the building?

Assuming there aren't two instances of the same building (one in each stake) and assuming that the stake that "owns" the building is using the calendar for scheduling, then the answer to both is yes.

If your stake can see the building in the calendar and if a stake administrator in your stake does not have the option to remove the building then you probably do not have two instances of the building. If you did have two instances it would most likely be because someone in your stake created the building on your calendar in which case you would have the option to remove it.

If your stake does not normally schedule that building, it would be polite to contact the building scheduler for the building and let them know about your intentions. That would help avoid misunderstandings and make sure everything is in order. And if the calendar isn't the authoritative you'll find out before there is a problem. The building scheduler can also check after you schedule the building to make sure they can see the event which will verify that you are both viewing the same instance of the building.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll reach out to the other Stake to ensure there won't be a conflict.
