Send email for calendar event

Post by dalewebb »

The new LDS.org calendar allows users to send an email a number of days prior to an event. Does it allow you to specify what subgroup of the ward to send it to, such as the YSA or the YM? It doesn't do much good to send an email to the whole ward for a YSA activity. Can you target a specific group?

It sends it to everyone who is subscribed to the calendar AND have elected to receive emails. All control is in the hands of the members. Leaders can only decide to send or not send.

But can the notification be sent to just those in the organization of that calendar?

No. Notifications will be sent to every one who is subscribed to the calendar and who has indicated they want notifications. There is no tie between a calendar and it's organization other that it's name. So the system has no idea which organisation a calendar belongs to.

We recently created a calendar for the ward council. So that the members of Ward council would be part of it. It was marked as private. Everyone said they're subscribed and had notifications set up. I, the creator of the calendar was the only one to receive a notification. Why didn't the notification go to everyone that's part of the calendar?
