Need to be able to share events/facilities with multiple calendars (endorsements requested)

Tech team,
I've reviewed the multiple posts, and there is a recurring theme that other users also have a requirement like mine. Namely:

We need to be able to share events and locations with multiple organizational calendars.

There are multiple occasions that multiple organizations, or even wards, join together for an event. For instance, Combined Activities for Young Men and Young Women. In our little town, the two wards frequently share Scouting activities. The list goes on. The calendar function on the site would be so much more effective if we were able to schedule the event, and invite other "calendar" organizations to attend it, so that updates to the event updated all calendars, and so that the location reservation could be shared, rather than trying to figure out who should actually schedule the room/rooms on their individual events.

I would think that ideally calendars could be set up at the lowest organizational level (Deacons, Teachers, Priests, Beehives, Mia Maids, Laurels, Elders, High Priests). When the Young Men had an activity, they would just invite all their quorums; preferably, they could set up a standing "set" of calendars that would schedule the quorums each time, rather than have to rebuild the list. That would also make managing calendars for the members much easier; they would just subscribe to, and see, events they actually wanted to see.

While the idea has merit, please note that the church is run by the Priesthood, not by democratic processes.

Combined YM/YW activities within a ward are frequently handled with another calendar. But I agree that there is no good method for combined ward activities. But it's not a decision made by the developers - they work on projects to implement the features as directed by the Priesthood or sponsoring agency. We'll just have to wait until higher priorities are taken care of.

While the current situation is certainly not ideal, it's far better then the options we had before the web became available. We're not going backwards, we're just not going forward at the desired speed.

Programmers provide online features from instructions given them by the Priesthood Department. They do not respond to petitions or other pleadings from this Forum, and so there is no need to "petition" or "endorse" the request at all. The Priesthood Department determines the requirements for the Calendar and provides direction to the programmers.

This feature has been requested before and discussed here at the Forum. But the programmers do not normally visit this Forum. The best way to get a recommendation to them, if you feel strongly about it, is to provide Feedback at the LDS.org site.
