Admin (by calling) cannot edit calendar events

Postby daltin » Sun Oct 11, 2015 10:10 pm

I am an admin for the stake by calling (Stake Assistant Clerk--Technology Specialist) and I cannot edit calendar events for my stake calendar (I am listed as an admin on the calendar). I can click on the event, and the link appears to edit, I click on the edit link, nothing happens. Tried in Chrome, Edge, on 2 different computers, nothing. Please help.

UPDATE: I can edit events without the building icon, but not events that have the building icon (see image)

This looks like a new bug and I am seeing the same thing now. A bit more info:

If the event does not select a facility it can be edited.
If it selects a facility (the building icon) and is a repeating event it can be edited.
If it selects a facility and is a one-time event, then hitting the edit link does nothing.
You can delete the event even though you cannot edit it. So the really clunky work around is to delete the event and create a new one with the modified info.

I don't think this bugs has always been there, so hopefully one of the admins that monitors this site can tell us if we are missing a post about this being a known issue. If not, then we need to submit a bug report.

A few questions: What is your calling that gives you edit rights?

Can you verify that it's taking place on a calendar you have edit right for? Generall, stake admins can't edit ward events and vice versa. Building Schedulers can't edit events taking place at other buildings.

I'm a stake technology specialist, and I tried opening up stake events taking place at the stake center (of which I'm also a building scheduler) and was able to get to the edit screen each time. For both repeating and one-time events.

These are stake calendars where we have our building schedulers manage the building reservations. I am both a stake asst clerk and a stake technology specialist. I created both the calendars and the building location, and have edit rights to all of them. I created the original event but then cannot edit it. If this is a permission problem, then it is a bug, because I should have permission to do all of the activities I am trying to do. I can create an event and mark it as repeating with a location scheduled. I then can edit that event to remove the repeat and can save the modified event. Then I try to edit the exact same event that I just saved, and the edit button does nothing. If I don't have edit rights (a ward calendar for example) the button allows me to view the event details, but it doesn't say edit. The link on my event shows that I can edit the event but it does nothing when I click on it.

Our building scheduler, who I have given both calendar edit rights and made her a building scheduler for the building in question is having the same problem. She can do everything other than edit a non-repeating event with locations selected. Perhaps something has been corrupted or we are hitting a corner case that you are not for some reason.

Can you repeat this with a location that you didn't create (came from FM's database)? I've tried to duplicate this, and I can't. The only thing I don't have is a "custom building" with "rooms". My only custom location has no rooms. (High Council Room).

Oh. I think you are correct that I didn't create the original locations but I did setup the rooms for each location. The locations are the ones from the FM database with the room configurations that I setup...

The developers can't duplicate this either. Can you go to https://www.lds.org/header and copy the text in a PM to me? Also a event you're not able to edit. I'll pass that along for them to look at.

I have been communicating with Russell offline, and I think we have narrowed down why this is happening. Our stake chooses to schedule our buildings centrally instead of using the distributed model. In order to do this, we leave the "Allow wards and stakes to schedule this location" selection disabled for all of our buildings. I just tried enabling that for one of the buildings and events that I was not able to open and edit before (those that do not repeat and have a facility selected) can now be opened and modified. When I disable that again, it goes back to not being able to edit them. So I am guessing that anyone else who is seeing this issues is also doing central scheduling and does not enable wards and stakes to schedule their buildings (daltin?). It definitely seems like a bug or else repeating events with a facility should also not be able to be edited but they can be. I am sure this is a case of us using a configuration that gets little or no testing by the developers so a bug slipped through.

I agree that's what's causing the problem to be limited to your stake. It also looks like it was previously reported here

Yes, that does look like the same issue. I found this thread first when I searched and didn't keep looking for more.
