Our Stake currently has a Stake Missionary Calendar which is accessible to all Ward Missionary Leaders and the Stake HC. A request has been made to give access to the full time missionaries so that they and the Ward mission leaders can schedule their teach appointments in an effort to reduce conflicts with missionary schedules. Is there a way to give the full time missionaries access to a specific calendar even though their membership does not reside in the stake? Right now everything is scheduled in Google Calendar but the missionaries do not have access to that either. Any work around would be appreciated.

I believe work is being done to give Missionaries access based on the mission assigning the missionaries in the ward. The directory works like that now. I don't remember if the calendar is complete or not.

The only other way to grant someone outside of the stake access is add them as a out-of-unit person and give them a stake calling. You'd have to update that. Note, that to add them, you'll need the information found on their IOS, such as Name, MRN, Birth Date, etc.

Our thoughts were do just that. Only we would create a calling of Full Time Missionary, and create the MRN for the out of unit member. Do you know if we can create one by just giving them a name of missionary? Can all this be done on the Stakes MLS or does it have to be done at a Ward Level?

Because of other issues with the calender, they have to have a stake calling to have access to a stake calender. So it would have to be done on the stake MLS. I'm not sure what all you can skimp on and still have the record function properly. MRN is required and would have to be updated with each transfer, but in the past we've advised to have the name and priesthood office filled in as well.

One thing to note – any out-of-unit member that is added in MLS needs to be assigned to a standard MLS calling (custom positions won't work) to allow him to see any of the online tools.
