Often local administrators will create duplicate entries of Church wide events, such as CES broadcasts and General Conference Sessions. These duplicate entries contain information specific to our stake, such as the location(s) where the Young Adults can gather to view the broadcast together then mingle after the broadcast. In our area this is the Institute building near the university. Another example is the general conference broadcasts. The duplicate entries contain information regarding the meetinghouses in the stake where the stake members can view the sessions. If it is not already available, having a way to customize the event information for local conditions would greatly reduce the duplicate entries on the calendar. Some ward administrators may also need to customize/annotate entries of stake wide events.
This is a good idea, if implemented in a non-confusing way. I suppose you could use the newsletter tool to disseminate specifics, too, but it's not all in one place.
