I am a technical clerk for my ward. We have auxiliary heads who prefer Google Calendar to LDS calendar. I would like to make them aware of the Syncing capabilities of the two, but feel that if I give them something that doesn't work right now it will be harder to bring them over long-term.
So what is the current state of LDS calendar and it's ability to sync with Google Calendar?
A cursory review of threads on the forum indicate problems as recently as yesterday. Are these surmountable or are there bugs that really need to be worked out?

It appears to be down at the moment. It happens from time to time. I imagine that it will come back up when the church employees come to work on Tuesday and find the server down.

Of course I'm trying this at a different time from you, but I tried it once before your post this weekend, and it worked with no problem, and I just tried it again (meaning I deleted -- unsubscribed from -- my Google calendar, and then added it again). Once again, it worked quickly and easily, with no problems whatsoever.russellhltn wrote:It appears to be down at the moment. It happens from time to time. What's your evidence for saying it was down?

I pasted my sync URL into my bowser and got nothing back. Usually I'm prompted for where to save the file. Since the only thing that uses that sync is Google calendar, I don't think I'm running into the 9-minutes throttle.aebrown wrote:What's your evidence for saying it was down?
Note that Google seems to cache the URL. That is, if I delete it out of my calendar, when I put it back in, it restores my name for it. I'm not sure if it caches events or not.
I'm still using the "short" URL (19-digit ID). Perhaps it's on a different server if you're using a newer "long" one.

Well, I definitely get an iCal file back when I paste my sync URL in a browser. It's true that I have a 32-character sync ID; I don't know if that's the determining factor or not.russellhltn wrote:I pasted my sync URL into my bowser and got nothing back.
