Alternate Email being used instead of Primary?

When I create events on the Calendar, the contact email address that is listed is what I have entered as my ALTERNATE email address in my Account Settings. It is not the email that I have listed as my "Primary Email" nor the email that I have entered as my "Ward Directory E-mail" (which is the same as my Primary).

Is this correct? Maybe I am misunderstanding what the "Alternate Email" is supposed to be? I couldn't find an official statement as to what the "Alternate Email" under our Account Settings is intended to be for. I thought it was an alternate just for recovery, for example. Instead do they mean that it is the email to be used online INSTEAD of the Primary?

If it is supposed to be used, then the Calendar Event is correct -- and I was just misunderstanding what the "Alternate Email" field was for. If it is not for that, then I think it is a bug in the Calendar that it lists my "Alternate Email" instead of my Primary or Ward Directory email.

What you describe is definitely not the correct behavior. However, I am unable to duplicate what you are seeing. I also have an alternate email address specified in my LDS Account profile that is different from my primary email address. But I have never seen my alternate email address displayed or used anywhere in the Calendar application (or anywhere else on LDS.org, for that matter).

The email address that is used is the one that comes from the Directory on LDS.org (which is synchronized with the individual email address for you stored in MLS). Rather than focusing on your LDS Account profile, I'd recommend that you go to the Directory and look at your household there. Specifically, examine your individual email address (and if you don't have an email address specified there, look at your household email address). That's the reliable place to look for the email address used for Calendar notifications.

Interesting -- you are on to something. When I go look in the directory, my FAMILY email is the one that I have in my settings as my "Ward Directory E-mail" -- but my INDIVIDUAL email is not that one -- it is the one that I have as my Alternate Email that I don't want to be public. And, that is the same as the one on the Events.

So, you are correct -- it IS using the same email on my individual directory listing and on my calendar events. Now I just need to get it to stop using that...

Ok -- I went and edited it under "My Household" in the directory itself and that seemed to change it. Oddly, that field doesn't even LOOK editable there -- it looks greyed/disabled -- but it did allow me to change it.

I'm not sure why it wasn't already using my "Ward Directory Email" there -- but oh well. At least it is now changed. Thanks for the hint! :)

Oh -- and I just went and created a test event in the calendar and it did indeed use the new/proper email address from my Directory page. So, that was indeed it!
