We just started using the new calendar a year ago, so I am now in the process of extending a number of repeating events. My usual procedure has been to edit the last instance and extend the end date. That creates a bunch of new events, but all of a sudden I noticed that the new events didn't have any rooms assigned--even though they were on the original event! This has happened multiple times. Am I going about this wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. It's a bug. Please see Extending recurring events for a workaround.
